Does the plot of land exist only on paper ?
The plot of land is a real identifiable plot situated on a hill-top in Donegal, Ireland, overlooking the Trawenagh Bay and a wide sweep of rolling mountains.
|
Could I actually stand on my own plot of land ?
Yes, definitely. Next time you are in Ireland we invite you to make your way to that hill-top in Donegal, using the directions in our Location Map. Place your two feet firmly on your own plot of Irish soil and recite out loud "This Land is Mine" You will find it to be a tremendously satisfying experience. You could also consider staying at nearby Donegal Thatched Cottages and gather round a blazing turf fire just like your ancestors did.
|
Has the plot of land any practical value in real terms ?
Of course not. Afterall it only measures one square yard and is not even good agricultural land!! It’s real value lies in the emotional satisfaction of actually owning a small piece of the Old Country. The fact that the plot in question consists of uncut bog ( peat land ) gives it additional sentimental value, bearing in mind the huge part that turf ( peat ) played in the life of our ancestors. An added bonus is its scenic location overlooking Trawenagh Bay and the surrounding mountainous terrain.

Will the plot of land be registered in my name with the Irish Land Registry ?
No. This would prove extremely cumbersome and prohibitively expensive. The underlying rockscape will continue to be registered in the names of Conor and Mary Ward. What you will get are "Turbary Rights" enshrined in a Certificate of Ownership. This is quite standard practice in the sale of uncut bog in Ireland. In essence it means that you become sole legal owner of the bog ( peat ) on you plot down as far as the underlying rock……….usually about four feet deep. So long as you do not cut away the peat on your plot down to the underlying rock you remain the owner in perpetuity.
|
|
Could I pass on my ownership to my next of kin ?
Yes. No problem. That is a matter for yourself.
|
How about access to the plot ?
A pedestrian right of access to your plot will be enshrined in your Certificate of Ownership.
|
What is the timescale for delivery of Certificate of Ownership and Poem ?
Please allow up to 28 days although we hope to deliver within 14 days.
|
What is the cost of postage and packaging ?
At St. Patrick’s Land. Com we have decided to absorb this cost in the quoted price for all purchases except the mini pouch of peat.

Are the poems "This Land is Mine" and "Proud Symbol" one only originals ?
They are one only originals in the sense that they have been specially composed for this occasion and have never before been published. What you will get is a limited edition copy, signed by the author, and beautifully presented in parchment against an appropriate backdrop. Perfect for framing, side by side with your Certificate of Ownership.

Who is the leading Irish artist ?
Stephen Brown. His exquisite etchings in Celtic art have appeared on the front cover of Ireland’s Own. We have commissioned from him an appropriate backdrop in Celtic art for our poems This Land is Mine and Proud Symbol and are well pleased with the result. We are confident that you will also be well pleased.
